The second step is methanol polyether ethoxylation, followed by esterification with fatty acids. Two-step processes, high cost and low active matter are the main drawbacks of these two routes. The third process involves the addition of fatty acids methyl esters to ethylene dioxide. The process is simple and low-cost. This synthesis is used by the FMEE production companies, like Sihe Petroleum or Malepine Petroleum.
