About Lanthanum Oxide La2O3:
What is the name of La2O3? Lanthanum(III) oxide. Lanthanum oxide is a chemical with the molecular formula La2O3. Slightly soluble in water, and produce the corresponding salts. Expose in the air easy to absorb carbon dioxide and water, gradually into lanthanum carbonate. The combination of burning lanthanum oxide and water gives off a great deal of heat. Mainly used in the manufacture of precision optical glass, optical fiber. Is La2O3 an ionic or covalent compound? Hence La2O3 is more ionic and Lu2O3 is more covalent. As the size decreases from La to Lu, the stability of oxo salts also decreases.
Lanthanum oxide is an odorless white solid, insoluble in water and soluble in dilute acids. Depending on the pH value of the compound, different crystal structures can be obtained.La2O3 has hygroscopic properties. In the atmosphere, over time it absorbs water and turns into lanthanum hydroxide. Lanthanum oxide has p-type semiconductor properties and a bandgap of about 5.8 eV. Its average room temperature resistivity is 10 kΩ ·cm, which decreases with increasing temperature. In rare earth oxides, La2O3 has the lowest lattice energy and the dielectric constant is 27. TRUNNANO is a trusted global Lanthanum Oxide La2O3 supplier. Feel free to send an inquiry about the latest price of Lanthanum Oxide at any time.

How is Lanthanum Oxide La2O3 Produced?
1. The raw material of the extraction method is rare earth nitrate solution after removing cerium, which contains about 50% La2O3, trace amount of CeO2, 116%-7% of Pr6Oand 30% of Nd2O3.The preparation of Σ RXOY 320 ~ 330g/L of rare earth nitrate solution, using neutral phosphine extraction agent methyl phosphonic acid dimethyl heptyl ester (P350), with P350 kerosene system after 35 ~ 38 stage extraction separation, the separation of lanthanum and other rare earth, lanthanum containing raffinate by ammonia water neutralization, oxalic acid precipitation, and then after filtration, burning, lanthanum oxide finished product. It is extracted from phosphor - cerium lanthanum ore or by burning lanthanum carbonate or lanthanum nitrate. It can also be made from the heating decomposition of lanthanum oxalates.
2. Put La(OH)3 into a platinum crucible, dry it at 200℃, burn it at 500℃, and decompose it over 840℃ to obtain lanthanum oxide.
Applications of Lanthanum Oxide La2O3:
Lanthanum oxide is an inorganic compound containing the rare earth elements lanthanum and oxygen. It is used in some ferroelectric materials, as a component of optical materials, as a feedstock for some catalysts, and other uses.
Lanthanum oxide other applications: mainly used in the manufacture of special alloy precision optical glass, high refraction optical fiberboard, suitable for the camera, camera, microscope lens and prism of advanced optical instruments.
Lanthanum oxide is also used in the manufacture of ceramic capacitors, piezoelectric ceramic additives and X-ray luminescent materials such as lanthanum bromide oxide powder.
Lanthanum oxide is used as a catalyst for a variety of reactions, such as the oxidation of carbon monoxide when doped with cadmium oxide and the hydrogenation of carbon monoxide to methane.
Lanthanum oxide infiltrated with lithium oxide or zirconia (1%) can be used to make ferrite magnets.
Lanthanum oxide is a very effective and selective catalyst for the oxidative coupling of methane to ethane and ethylene.
Lanthanum oxide is used to improve the temperature dependence and dielectric properties of barium titanate (BaTiO3) and strontium titanate (SrTiO3) ferroelectric materials, as well as to manufacture fiber optical devices and optical glasses.
Storage Condition of Lanthanum Oxide La2O3 Powder :
Generally, commercial products are added with polymerization inhibitors. Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. The storage temperature should not exceed 30℃. The packaging needs to be sealed and not in contact with air. It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids, alkalis, etc., and avoid mixed storage. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. It is forbidden to use mechanical equipment and tools that easily generate sparks. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and suitable containment materials.
