Although zirconia ceramics require a high level of surface accuracy and dimension, due the high degree of sintering shrinkage the accuracy of sintered clays cannot always be assured. These ceramics should therefore be processed once sintering has completed. They are used extensively in structural ceramics due to their toughness, wear resistance, great thermal insulation properties and comparable steel thermal expansion coefficient.
