Frye Shoes Frye® began with humble beginnings and transformed into a symbol of international style, while remaining true to their heritage. On March 10th, 1863, John A. Frye opened a small shop in Marlboro, Massachusetts. Back then, these shoes had one purpose: to provide factory workers with quality boots that were tough, long-lasting, and comfortable. Frye® shoes were for the workers, laborers, and craftsman of the 1800s. As communities grew and people traveled, Frye® goods soon became an American staple.

By the 1930s, Frye® became known for their style as well as their quality. Each new generation of Frye® dedicated themselves to finding new materials, exploring the craft of shoe making, and infusing history and culture. Years of cultural influences, historic events, and changes in fashion have influenced their shoe collections. Today, Frye® bridges the present day with the past by making modern creations, while staying inspired by their heritage. Even with a global outreach, Frye® still embodies the same attitude from the 1800s: to make leather shoes and goods that are hard-working, long-lasting, and crafted with exceptional quality.
